Cleaning before and after welding is often
the most important part of the welding operation. There are two
ways to clean the materials to be welded: chemical and mechanical. Both
are practical methods that can be used.
There is more than one method at the
bevelling stage. The most important thing is to bring the work into the correct and
proper position without disturbing the structure of the metal.
In place of the oxy-acetylene or oxy-propane
cutting torches once used for bevelling, cold cutting
milling bevelling machines now cut the bevel with no heat input
into the metal.
