Advantages

One Body, Many Preps

The same machine cuts outside bevels, inside bevels and J preparations by changing the tool. No second machine is needed.

Narrow Angle Economy

Inside bevel tools between 9° and 15° shrink the volume to be filled on thick plate, cutting weld metal use and pass count.

Radiused Root

The R1 root left by the 20° J-bevel tool makes the root pass easier to lay in double-sided welds.

Genuine GBC Tooling

Tools are defined to match the B code on the machine, so no fitting or rework is needed to get dimensions and mounting right.

  • For GBC A Series automatic plate machines only

On an A Series automatic plate machine, the tool decides what the machine does. The same body cuts an outside bevel, an inside bevel or a J preparation depending on which tool is fitted. Outside bevel tools are defined at 35° and 45°, inside bevel tools at 9°, 10°, 12° and 15°. The 20° J-bevel tool leaves an R1 root: because the transition is radiused rather than square, the root pass settles more easily on double-sided welds. The 10° / R1.5 tool for B4 and B5 machines is defined as two parts, I and II, and the pair is ordered together. The B0–B9 marks in the tool codes identify which machine configuration a tool belongs to, so reading the code off the machine before ordering is the one step that prevents the wrong part arriving. The cutting material is specified as stainless steel. Angle selection belongs to the welding procedure: 45° is the common standard for a single-sided V preparation, while narrow angles between 9° and 15° reduce the volume to be filled on thick plate and with it both weld metal consumption and pass count. The second half of the range consists of genuine GBC consumables under the 1001.2152.000 root number, ordered by code according to machine position; several of these carry defined angles of 10°, 12°, 20°, 30° and 35°.
