Advantages

An Aluminium-Only Range

Soft, sticky swarf tends to build up on an edge ground for steel. These heads are kept as a separate range for that reason.

Seven Angles, Eight Radii

Straight bevels from 15° to 60° and radii from R1 to R8 all run on the same machine body.

Depth Follows The Machine

Bevel Mite gives 6 mm, Bevel Mate 8 mm, the R6 head 10 mm and the deepest series 12 mm — which sets the bevel width per pass.

Cost Sits On Heads

The head is the only wear part, so cost per metre is read off the head price rather than the machine investment.

Features

  • Cutting geometry reserved for aluminium alone
  • Bevel angles of 15°, 22.5°, 30°, 37.5°, 45°, 52.5° and 60°
  • Radius heads in R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R8
  • Bevel depths: 6 mm Bevel Mite, 8 mm Bevel Mate, 10 mm and 12 mm
  • Radius heads give a J preparation with no sharp corner at the root
  • Replaceable heads: the head is the only wear part, the body stays
  • Changing angle means changing the head, not the machine

Aluminium does not take the same cutter as steel. Soft, sticky swarf tends to build up on an edge ground for steel, and the finish suffers for it — which is exactly why this range is set aside for aluminium alone. Specifying one is a two-step job. Depth comes first: Bevel Mite heads give a 6 mm bevel depth, Bevel Mate heads 8 mm, the R6 head reaches 10 mm and the 12 mm series cuts the deepest preparation. Depth sets the bevel width you get in a single pass, so it cannot be chosen apart from plate thickness. Geometry comes second. For a straight bevel, pick one of the seven angles: 15°, 22.5°, 30°, 37.5°, 45°, 52.5° or 60°. For a J-type root preparation, pick a radius head — R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 or R8 — which leaves no sharp corner at the root of the groove. Because the heads are replaceable, the machine body stays with you and the head is the only wear part, so cost per metre is read off the head, not the machine. Switching angles is a head change, nothing more.
