Advantages
Clutch Stops Breakage
Past the torque threshold the clutch slips, so the tap responds by stopping rather than by snapping.
Component Protected
Removing a tap broken inside a hole can scrap the part. The clutch prevents that scenario arising.
One Adapter Per Size
Every size has its own adapter, so no intermediate bushing or collet is needed and nothing runs off axis.
M5 To M42 Covered
Twenty-three sizes across three body series span everything from a small machine screw to heavy structural threads.

Features
- Twenty-three tap sizes from M5 to M42
- The safety clutch cuts drive once the torque threshold is passed
- Series 2 covers M5–M22, series 3 M12–M30, series 4 M20–M42
- Adapters covering two sizes together, such as M22–M24, are available
- Direct fit with the BDS HSS tap range
- Prevents breakage when the tap bottoms out or swarf packs the flutes
- The tap shank must match the adapter seat
- Made in Germany by BDS
What breaks a tap in the hole is usually not the operator but a sudden rise in torque. When the tap bottoms out, when the flutes pack with swarf, or when the feed continues past the end of the thread, full motor torque lands on the tap body and an HSS tap reaches its breaking point rather than its cutting point. The safety-clutch holder exists to catch that moment: once the torque threshold is passed the clutch slips, drive to the tap is cut, and the tap stops instead of snapping. Getting a broken tap out of a hole usually puts the component itself at risk, which is why the clutch is a damage limiter rather than a convenience. The range is defined in twenty-three sizes from M5 to M42, and each adapter takes one tap size — codes covering two sizes together, such as M22–M24, are the exception. The tap shank has to match the adapter seat. The digits 2, 3 and 4 in the code identify the body series: series 2 is defined from M5 to M22, series 3 from M12 to M30, and series 4 from M20 to M42. Where the ranges overlap, the choice follows the tap-holder mounting on the machine. Used with the BDS HSS tap range, drilling and tapping finish in one setup.
