Static Grounding Device

Static grounding devices provide a path to ground for any static charge. Because static can build up on plastic pipe, even for water services, there is a possibility of a spark discharge of sufficient energy to cause ignition if the proper air/gas mixture is present. Use of a static electricity grounding device is a precaution that can dissipate the charge and minimize the possibility of ignition. REED strongly recommends use of the PEGR7 model with PE Squeeze-Off Tools and Guillotine Pipe Cutters and the PEGRM static grounding device with magnet connection on ratchet shears in all gas applications.
