Product Description
When welding exotic materials such as titanium, a secondary gas shield is required to protect the cooling weld seam and the HAZ (heat affected zone). Trailing shields prevent oxidation by protecting the weld from the atmosphere until it reaches a safe temperature. Trailing shields are essential in order to avoid weld defects and rework costs. Flat versions are available for sheet or plate work, as well as contoured versions for the internal and external welding of pipes, vessels and tanks.
The shields, manufactured from stainless steel, use a sintered metal gas diffuser to help prevent turbulence in the weld zone. These versatile shields can be used on more than one pipe size. The aluminium models use the same gas diffuser system as the stainless steel versions; replacing the seals is very easy and economical.
