Specifying an MCA1 or MCA2 blade comes down to three questions: which operation, which direction, which material group. On the operation side there are three answers. Plain cutting blades part the pipe. Outside bevelling blades only cut the preparation, and come at 30° and 37.5°. Combined cut-plus-bevel blades do both in one pass; that group runs at 37.5° and 45° up to 40 mm wall and saves real time on site by collapsing two passes into one. The second question is direction. Front-approach and rear-approach blades differ by which side the machine comes at the pipe from, and in tight quarters that choice decides access — so the mounting direction has to be settled before the order. The third question is material. Carbon steel blades run on carbon and low-alloy pipe. On the stainless side there are two versions: TiCN-coated blades lower sticking at the cutting edge and raise the metres each blade delivers, while the Inox series is the second option for stainless work. In sustained stainless production the coated version causes fewer stoppages. A mixed shop holds both a carbon and a stainless line for the operation and direction it actually uses.
