GBC MANUAL EDGE — Angular Milling Heads

The angled milling heads for the GBC MANUAL EDGE beveller. Six heads give six fixed bevel angles: 22.5°, 30°, 37.5°, 45°, 55° and 60°. The head sets the angle, not an adjustment.

Advantages

A Repeatable Angle

A fixed-angle head removes the setting error, so the groove geometry is the same all shift and across operators.

Head Follows Procedure

22.5°, 30°, 37.5°, 45°, 55° and 60° are the angles procedures actually call for, so the head is picked straight off the WPS.

One Body, Six Angles

Changing angle changes the head, not the machine. The same MANUAL EDGE body runs all six.

How Many Heads

The stocking decision follows the procedures: a line running two angles needs two heads, not all six.

Features

  • Fixed bevel angles of 22.5°, 30°, 37.5°, 45°, 55° and 60°
  • The angle comes with the head; nothing is dialled in
  • Change angle by swapping the head on the same MANUAL EDGE body
  • A fixed angle gives the same groove from operator to operator
  • 22.5° and 30° heads pair into 45° and 60° V grooves
  • The 37.5° head gives the 75° V common in pipe and vessel work
  • The insert side is unchanged by a head swap

On the MANUAL EDGE the bevel angle is not dialled in on the machine; it arrives with the head. That looks like a restriction and is in practice an advantage: a fixed-angle head gives the same angle from operator to operator and part to part, so the groove geometry holds all shift. The six heads cover the angles that come up most often in welding procedures. 22.5° and 30° pair into 45° and 60° V grooves and hold weld volume down on heavy sections. 37.5° gives the 75° V that appears constantly in pipe and pressure vessel work. 45° is the common choice where a single-sided bevel is cut. 55° and 60° are there for the cases where electrode access is tight and the groove has to open up. Changing head is not changing machine: the same MANUAL EDGE body moves from angle to angle by swapping the head, and the insert side stays as it is. So a shop's real decision is not which machine to buy but how many heads to hold against the angles in its procedures — a line running two angles needs two heads.
